Teenager shot to death at major Chicago tourist destination

A 16-12 months-previous boy was shot to dying near the well known “The Bean” sculpture in Chicago’s Millennium Park on Saturday.

Police have taken two suspects into custody in relation to the shooting, but authorities have but to release names or a motive for the capturing. The boy, Seandell Holliday, was shot at the preferred tourist attraction close to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to law enforcement.

“Earlier this night, a 16-year-previous was tragically killed near Millennium Park. This senseless reduction of existence is completely unacceptable,” Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot reported in a statement Saturday evening. “Tonight, a mom is grief-stricken, mourning the reduction of her kid and browsing for solutions. My coronary heart is breaking for the mom as she grieves this unspeakable reduction.”

Lightfoot added that her administration options on getting “additional steps” to reduce foreseeable future shootings, but has however to offer you aspects.

Holliday was a single of many Chicago teenagers to be shot this weekend. At minimum three others ended up shot – a single fatally – in incidents across the town in between Friday and Saturday.
