Gifted teacher Mary Cunningham took a few groups from Hawthorne Elementary in Albuquerque to the levels of competition. Her third-grade crew, named Traveling Bananas, took to start with place in the “Daring Escape” technological obstacle class

Kelsey Prince, tournament director and a Inventive Program board member, explained an crucial component of the level of competition is that the learners should do all the things by themselves. Cunningham stated she gives guidance, but are not able to do everything, even encouraging with props.

Cunningham said the Traveling Bananas are one particular of the most centered team of college students she has at any time taken to a opposition. Cunningham has taken pupils for the earlier eight a long time, but this was her very first time taken a staff from New Mexico. She recently relocated to the state from Texas.

Cunningham said she enjoys taking part in the competition simply because it features her college students an option to master about perseverance and resilience.
